About Jo-an
Master of Counselling, BSocSci (Psy Hons)
Jo-an has over a decade of experience in psychology across different settings. She started her career in health psychology research, investigating and supporting chronic disease management programmes. In the past 9 years, she has been supporting clients in a local hospital and worked with various populations including perinatal women, adults struggling with depression, anxiety, personality disorders, insomnia and others.

Graduating from National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Social Science (in Psychology, with honours), Jo-an continued on her path in counselling with a Master's Degree from Monash University. Basic education aside, Jo-an is dedicated to honing her clinical skills and deepening her theoretical roots. She is trained in approaches including Attachment-focused Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (AF-EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC), Ericksonian Hypnosis, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and others.
Also a certified yoga instructor for the last 8 years, Jo-an believes in the wisdom of the physical body and has seen how working with the body brings about benefits to one's well-being. As she continues to integrate the knowledge from each modality, she strives to crystalise and infuse these wisdom into her counselling practice.
Beyond the approaches, Jo-an sees each of her client as uniquely whole persons who could use a safe space to explore deeper and integrate within. Journeying with her clients is something she is passionate about and looks forward to.
